To Play with Fire: Love Tarot Spread and Downloadable PDF
With fires flaring across the west and smoke drifting across the nation, things are getting too hot to handle! So for the Tarot Blog Hop, Jay Cassels and I as co-wranglers burst into the idea of “Mills & Boon Tarot,” or, for those of us in the US, “Harlequin Romance Tarot.” Perhaps unsurprisingly, many Harlequin titles refer to smoke, fire, and flame. Perfect for a Tarot in Love tarot spread to bring the summer of fire to a close! If you want to find out whether your love spark will fizzle or sizzle, you need the “To Play with Fire Love Tarot Spread”! Fire up your most passionate tarot deck and let’s fan it into flames!
Position 1: Flash Point
Position 1 is Flash Point. This is the moment of the spark! Look to the card that falls in position 1 to understand the start of your current (or next!) relationship. Does the card here suggest the relationship will ignite in a blast? Or is it cooler and more slow growing? Is it a raging blaze or a controlled burn?
Spend time looking at the card image. Note details in the artwork that jump out at you. Jot them down in your journal. How can you put them together to address this position in the spread? Focusing on the scene in the card image is the best way to get accurate information from the card, but if you get stuck, consult my Tarot Cards Love Meanings posts.
Position 2: Smoke into Flame
Position 2 in the To Play with Fire Love Tarot Spread is “Smoke into Flame.” Once the spark catches, some fires flare immediately, while some smoke, slowly building heat internally. The card in position 2 will let you know how the fervor in this relationship will build over time. Examine the actions of the character or characters on the card to ascertain the speed of development and the level of intensity that this connection will grow to.
Position 3: The Temple of Fire
The final position is Temple of Fire. The card you pull for this position shows the peak of potential for the passion in this relationship. But it also shows the level of sacredness. Once you have a steady flame, you want to protect it. Place your torch in the safety of the fire cave, or build a temple to house it.
Meditate on the details of the card image. How effective are you as the one who tends this flame? Is it strong and steady, ready to burn through the night? Or do you need to add fuel?
What is the sacred goal of this relationship? Passion and fireworks? Love and family? Connection and communion? What is your divine duty as priest or priestess of the temple of fire — how do you minister to this relationship? Find your answer in the scene on the card.
